"J-Roll", the three-time All-Star, won the 2007 NL MVP award. He won four NL Gold Glove Awards and a Silver Slugger award over 15 seasons in Philly and was part of their 2008 Championship team.

Jimmy's 2014 Roberto Clemente award is referenced on the glove art, too.

For this painting commission, the Phillies sourced a Mizuno Pro baseball glove just like the one Jimmy used at Shortstop.

Creating the Rollins Glove Artwork

The painting was created with acrylic paints and on an Mizuno Pro infielders glove. The design included hand-lettering of text, Phillies logo and portrait painting.

Baseball Artwork for the Philadelphia Phillies

This is my 5th painting for the Phillies. Previously I painted catcher "Chooch" Ruiz, a glove for Ryan Howard, which was also presented in an on-field ceremony at Citizens Bank Park, Shane Victorino, and painted base for Jim Thome.

Thanks to the Phillies for partnering with me to create this special gift and here's to Jimmy enjoying this keepsake artwork for years to come.

Shane Victorino Presented with Painted Glove

The Philadelphia Phillies honored Victorino during a pre-game ceremony on August 3 at Citizens Bank Park, presenting him with this one-of-a-kind painting as recognition of his All-Star Phillies career.

The "Flyin' Hawaiian", a two-time All-Star, won three NL Gold Glove Awards over eight seasons in Philly and was part of their 2008 Championship team.

Shane's celebration after hitting his pivotal grand slam in Game 2 of the 2008 NL Division Series is featured, too.

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-glove-art-overhead.jpg

For this painting commission, the Phillies chose photo references and sourced an Akadema baseball glove just like the one Shane used in the outfield.

Creating the Victorino Glove Artwork

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-akadema-glove-art.jpg

The painting was created with acrylic paints and on an Akadema outfielders glove. Once the team selected from a variety of designs I presented using photos they chose, work began on preparing and painting the glove. This included hand-lettering of text, Phillies logo and portrait painting.

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-glove-art-short-handle-brush.jpg

The tight space in the glove required chopping the brush handle in half so I could fit it and my hand in there to paint.

Baseball Artwork for the Philadelphia Phillies

This is my fourth painting for the Phillies. Previously I painted catcher "Chooch" Ruiz, a glove for Ryan Howard, which was also presented in an on-field ceremony at Citizens Bank Park, and painted base for Jim Thome.

Thanks to the Phillies for partnering with me to create this special gift and here's to Shane enjoying this keepsake artwork for years to come.

Shoeless Joe Jackson Painting on 100 year-old Glove

Shoeless Joe featured on artwork for The National Pastime Museum

sean-kane-shoeless-joe-jackson-black-sox-painting-on-vintage-glove.jpg

Famed slugger "Shoeless" Joe Jackson depicted on 100-year old baseball glove from the era in which he played.

sean-kane-shoeless-joe-jackson-hand-lettering-356-avg-1917-world-champions-baseball-glove.jpg

A couple of career details and name are included in type reminiscent of that used in print design during his playing days.

sean-kane-shoeless-joe-jackson-handlettering-sketch-1910s-1920s-type.jpg

This is my sketch for the ribbon and name lettering.

I chose a sepia color palette for this painting to help capture the look of the era, when news about teams was poured over by fans in newspapers and magazines.

Shoeless Joe hit for a .356 average in his career, including .408 in 1911. He led the Chicago White Sox to the 1917 World Series title. And, of course, he's maybe best known for the 1919 Black Sox Scandal.

This painted baseball glove portrait of Jackson is in the collection of The National Pastime Museum, an online museum based on a private collection of baseball artifacts.

Milwaukee Brewers 1987 Team Streak Glove Painting

sean-kane-brewers-1987-team-streak-baseball-glove-art-1.jpg

30th Anniversary '87 Team Celebrated on Art at Brewers Fantasy Camp 2017

The latest Brewers Fantasy Camp featured art I created which focused on the legendary 1987 Milwaukee Brewers, who began their season with a 13-game winning streak.

sean-kane-brewers-1987-team-streak-baseball-glove-art-2.jpg

"Team Streak", as they became known, is probably one of my most ambitious glove art paintings so far.

Incorporated in the design are five players key to the excitement of the 1987 Brewers:

Paul Molitor had a 39-game hit streak that season and is depicted coming out of the batters box after his hit in the last game of his streak.

Juan Nieves is depicted throwing the Brewers first no-hitter, a game caught by Bill Schroeder.

sean-kane-brewers-1987-team-streak-baseball-glove-art-3.jpg

Teddy Higuera threw 32 consecutive scoreless innings in 1987.

Dale Sveum had the game winning home run on Easter Sunday, keeping the Brewers winning streak alive.

And Rob Deer led the way on the Sports Illustrated cover story about the hot Milwaukee team. The image of him on the cover of SI was the basis for my portrait of him.

sean-kane-brewers-1987-team-streak-baseball-glove-art-4.jpg

Being a painting about a team, it seemed natural that the whole team should be represented. All player names from the '87 Brewers roster plus manager Tom Trebelhorn are included in the design.

sean-kane-brewers-1987-team-streak-juan-nieves-no-hitter-baseball-glove-art-1.jpg

The catcher's mitt is a pro model 1980s Rawlings, matching the era of the team depicted. While not the exact style used by Bill Schroeder the night he caught the Nieves no-hitter, the mitt did make for an ideal canvas for this painting

sean-kane-brewers-1987-team-streak-baseball-glove-art-5.jpg

This glove art was part of the fundraising efforts of Brewers Fantasy Camp. The raffle for the "Team Streak" art raised money for Stars and Stripes Honor Flight of Wisconsin.

The winner of the framed painted glove was Fantasy Camper Scott F., who says he already knows exactly where it's going to hang in his home.

Sean-Kane-Bob-Uecker-Major-League-Painted-Baseball-Glove-Art-2.jpg

Bob Uecker is probably best known for his roles as radio announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers and as a comedic actor.

Uecker starred in the popular "Major League" movies as the announcer Harry Doyle.

He appeared regularly in the sitcom "Mr. Belvedere". Uecker was also a frequent guest on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show".  Uecker is also known for his role in the popular Miller Lite commercials.

Sean-Kane-Bob-Uecker-Major-League-Painted-Baseball-Glove-Art-3.jpg

From 1962 to 1967, Uecker was a catcher for the Milwaukee Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves.

Sean-Kane-Bob-Uecker-Major-League-Painted-Baseball-Glove-Art-4.jpg

He was part of the 1964 St. Louis Cardinals World Championship team.

Bob Uecker was inducted into the broadcaster wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.

In a nod to Mr. Uecker's sense of humor, this depiction of him is based on one of his Topps baseball card photos. In the baseball card photo he is shown in a left-handed batting pose -- even though he was a right-handed batter. Classic Ueck.

Sean-Kane-Bob-Uecker-Major-League-Painted-Baseball-Glove-Art-5.jpg

Given Bob Uecker's connection to Milwaukee -- being raised there, making his MLB debut with the Milwaukee Braves and long tenure as Brewers play-by-play announcer -- it seemed natural to portray him with a Milwaukee cap on in this detailed painted portrait.

Sean-Kane-Bob-Uecker-Major-League-Painted-Baseball-Glove-HOHX.jpg

The glove is a '60s era Rawlings HOH X professional model glove, approximately 11 inches wide by 10.5 inches tall.

Baseball Glove Art featuring 'Bucketfoot' Al Simmons

Hall of Fame Slugger Simmons Portrayed on Vintage Glove

Sean-Kane-Al-Simmons-baseball-glove-art

This painting of Aloysious Simmons, one of the best hitters of the live-ball era, has been acquired by The National Pastime Museum.

Simmons was part of the dominant Philadelphia Athletics teams that won the A.L pennant in 1929 and World Series in 1930 and 1931. He was a star outfielder for a total of seven teams from 1924-1944.

Sean-Kane-Al-Simmons-baseball-glove-art-portrait

An antique baseball glove from the 1930s, similar in style to what Al Simmons wore in the outfield during that era, was used for this painting.

Sean-Kane-Al-Simmons-baseball-glove-art-side

Simmons won the batting title in 1930, batting .381 and in 1931, batting .390. At the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame in 1953, he had the most hits by any A.L. right-handed batter in history with 2831.

Sean-Kane-Al-Simmons-baseball-glove-art-batting

Born in Milwaukee, Simmons went on to collect a .334 lifetime average with 2927 hits and 307 home runs. The position of his feet while batting earned him the nickname "Bucketfoot Al".

Sean Kane's baseball glove art has been featured on NBC Sports.com, ESPN.com, MLB Network Radio, and is in the collection of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and private collections across the country.
