Reds Chuck Harmon Depicted on Leather Baseball Glove
Harmon is celebrated with this hand-painted depiction on a 1950s vintage baseball glove.
Cincinnati Reds first African-American player in 1954, also played for the Cardinals and Phillies.
Nicknamed “The Glove”, Harmon is depicted in his Reds uniform, which included a blue hat in 1954 & 1955.
The vintage glove is nearly identical to the one Harmon is pictured wearing.
Harmon was briefly a player for the Indianapolis Clowns in the Negro Leagues, using the alias “Charlie Fine” to keep his college basketball eligibility intact. He was a college All-American in basketball, later cut from the NBA Boston Celtics during the 1951 pre-season.
