The Philadelphia Phillies honored Victorino during a pre-game ceremony on August 3 at Citizens Bank Park, presenting him with this one-of-a-kind painting as recognition of his All-Star Phillies career.

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-glove-art.jpg

The "Flyin' Hawaiian", a two-time All-Star, won three NL Gold Glove Awards over eight seasons in Philly and was part of their 2008 Championship team.

Shane's celebration after hitting his pivotal grand slam in Game 2 of the 2008 NL Division Series is featured, too.

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-glove-art-overhead.jpg

For this painting commission, the Phillies chose photo references and sourced an Akadema baseball glove just like the one Shane used in the outfield.

Creating the Victorino Glove Artwork

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-akadema-glove-art.jpg

The painting was created with acrylic paints and on an Akadema outfielders glove. Once the team selected from a variety of designs I presented using photos they chose, work began on preparing and painting the glove. This included hand-lettering of text, Phillies logo and portrait painting.

sean-kane-shane-victorino-flyin-hawaiian-phillies-glove-art-short-handle-brush.jpg

The tight space in the glove required chopping the brush handle in half so I could fit it and my hand in there to paint.

Baseball Artwork for the Philadelphia Phillies

This is my fourth painting for the Phillies. Previously I painted catcher "Chooch" Ruiz, a glove for Ryan Howard, which was also presented in an on-field ceremony at Citizens Bank Park, and painted base for Jim Thome.

Thanks to the Phillies for partnering with me to create this special gift and here's to Shane enjoying this keepsake artwork for years to come.

The Phillies sent me a game-used base with a connection to Thome's time on the team for this painting commission.

The base was on the field as first base when Thome hit his final Phillies home run, a walk-off homer in 2012.

Creating the Thome Base Artwork

The painting was created with acrylic paints and is 15 x 15 inches. Once the team selected from a variety of designs I presented, work began on preparing and painting the base. This included hand-lettering of text, Phillies logo and portrait painting. Quite a bit bigger than my usual glove art, this one clocked in at 120+ hours.

sean-kane-jim-thome-phillies-hall-of-fame-base-hand-lettering-5092.jpg

Thome signed with the Phillies in 2003. Over parts of four seasons with the team, he hit .260 with 101 home runs, 281 RBI and a .925 OPS.

Ryan Braun Featured on 2008 Brewers Glove Artwork

Braun Painting Celebrates Wild Card Brew Crew

Ryan-Braun-Glove-Art-2-main.jpg

Hand-painted baseball glove featuring Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The glove art Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Brewers 2008 Wild Card team and Braun's impact on their success.

Ryan-Braun-Glove-Art-thumb.jpg

This painting was created for the 2018 Brewers Fantasy Camp as a fundraising item and fun item for a lucky camper to take home. Fantasy Camp featured players from the 2008 Brewers team as coaches for the week.

This year's recipient of funds generously raised by campers was Amber's Last Promise, a Wisconsin-based organization seeking to better the lives of those affected by mental illness, including through suicide prevention efforts.

Ryan-Braun-Glove-Art-Brewers-Easton.jpg

The artwork is painted on an Easton personalized model donated by Ryan.

To complete the painting, including research, design, preparing the glove and, finally, getting out the tiny brushes took over 100 hours to complete.

Ryan-Braun-Glove-Art-Corey-Hart-Mike-Cameron-Brew-Crew.jpg

Art Includes portraits of Ryan at bat, him rounding first base after 2008 final game home run and (very small!) high-fiving fellow "untucked" '08 teammates Corey Hart and Mike Cameron after a victory.

hart-picking-glove-art-winner-300x.jpg

As a final touch, Corey Hart helped to determine which camper would go home with the Braun painted glove, drawing the winner's name. (In '08 Brewers style, I went untucked in my attempt to reach Corey's long reach.)

The happy winner of the painting was a player on Corey's team during the week who plans to proudly display the glove in his Milwaukee office.

In addition to the Braun glove art featured at Brewers Fantasy Camp, a special commission was presented to Brewers TV broadcaster and former catcher, Bill Schroeder.

bill-receiving-glove-art-500x.jpg

"Rock" has run Fantasy Camp for over a decade and campers showed their appreciation for the amazing experience he helps create each year.

The painting features his career in baseball, including catching the Brewers only no-hitter, on a Rawlings orange target mitt just like the kind he wore behind the plate in the 1980's.

Thanks to Bill and the Brewers Fantasy Camp for inviting me and my work to be part of their annual week of baseball fun.

Custom Baseball Art for a Detroit Tigers Fan on Vintage Glove

A Big Tigers Fan Gets Special Baseball Gift

sean-kane-detroit-tigers-custom-glove-art-cobb-verlander-cabrera.jpg

I was asked to create this one-of-a-kind baseball glove painting for a Detroit Tigers fan.

The artwork includes portraits of four favorite players, the Tigers famous old english "D" logo, mentions of their championship years, a custom logo for the recipient's family and a 1984 World Series ball.

sean-kane-chet-lemon-detroit-tigers-baseball-glove-painting-detail.jpg

The painting is on a vintage glove just like Chet Lemon (the recipient's favorite player!) used during his career with the Tigers and Chicago White Sox in the 1970's and 80s.

The four player portraits include Chet Lemon, Ty Cobb, Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander (who was traded after the painting was delivered).

sean-kane-detroit-tigers-baseball-glove-painting-lemon-verlander-cobb.jpg

The banners include references to the Tigers World Series championships and to their Hall of Fame announcer, Ernie Harwell, and his famous home run call, "It's Long Gone!".

sean-kane-detroit-tigers-artwork-1984-world-series-ball-logo-detail.jpg

The gift commemorates the recipient's family's first game at Comerica Park and I created a custom logo for the occasion with interlocking family initials.

Finally, the icing on the cake is the 1984 World Series baseball, placed in the web of the glove. The '84 team was a big part of the recipient's youth and it also incorporates another aspect of Chet Lemon's career.

Design Notes

sean-kane-detroit-tigers-painting-cabrera-lemon-verlander-cobb-1984-baseball-mitt.jpg

This is among the busiest designs I've created for a baseball glove painting, but is also one of the most personal creations. It's an honor knowing that it will be enjoyed by an avid Tigers fan.

A big thanks to the family that commissioned me to create this!

Baseball Glove Art Unboxing

Here's a glimpse of what it's typically like to receive a Painted Glove:

This unboxing video should give a pretty good example of what you or a gift recipient should expect upon delivery of a custom glove or glove from my shop.

Each Baseball Glove Artwork arrives in a well-protected shipping box. Inside of that is an archival museum storage box with metal edges.

Inside the gift box is a canvas "equipment bag" with the Sean Kane Baseball Art logo patch on the outside. The glove is on the inside!

Also included is a display stand for the glove. Depending on the glove style, the stand will either be a wooden easel or a wire stand. In this case, the museum wire stand is shown in the video.

A photo is included to show how to place artwork on the display stand.

A personalized note can be included for gift recipients. And an artwork info card or "back label" is included with title, date, contact info and care instructions.

Just let me know if you have any questions about packaging for Painted Gloves or special requests if ordering a special gift. I'm happy to accommodate requests, if possible.
