Glove Art at Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend

New Hall of Fame Members, Painted Gloves in Museum Store and Fans Come out to Play

It was a great pleasure to be part of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum Induction Weekend festivities in June after years without live events at the Ontario museum.

My baseball art on classic baseball gloves is now available in the museum store, which was on display during the Induction events.

After a few years without events, it was fun getting to talk with baseball fans who turned out for the induction of Pedro Martinez, Justin Morneau, Jeff Francis and Duane Ward into the Hall of Fame.

The Painted Gloves “Trunk Show” of original art, prints and cards was set up on the museum grounds.

I had the good fortune to meet Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins, whom I featured on a Portrait Card as part of a fundraising effort last year. Fergie took time to autograph a card for the buyer of the Portrait Card artwork.

A Portrait Card painting of Andre Dawson was part of the Induction Weekend Golf Banquet prize package, which I helped present to the winner.

The Induction Weekend also coincided with the recent publication of SABR’s latest title, “Our Game, Too: Influential Figures and Milestones in Canadian Baseball”. Their booth display was next to mine. And I happen to be the book’s cover designer.

Other vendors included the museum’s own gift store with a range of hats, bats, balls and shirts and Toronto’s tasty Left Field Brewery!

Exciting day for baseball fans. Can’t wait to find who the next class of Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductees will include! Thanks to the museum’s executive director for including my artwork in the event. It was out of the park!
